Web Links

Searching via Google finds most things very quickly, so that lists of web links aren't as useful as they once were.

The Athens Institute for Languages and Speech Processing has developed an interactive programme to aid in learning Greek: see Greek for Beginners.

For Greek music enthusiasts, Trehantiri Music is a good starting place.

Ferries are less well-supported by web sites than flights. Try Ferries to Greece. Once you're there, Greek Island Hopping will assist in getting around.

While on the subject of travelling, don't forget your European Health Insurance Card (which replaced the old E111). Make sure it's up-to-date: it lasts for 5 years, and can be renewed online.

Other Organizations

The Greek Club was started by people who had learnt Greek via the Brasshouse Centre, and many members attend classes there. Even if you can't attend a weekly class, Saturday Schools are good refresher. There is a special Greek web site which lists Greek Cultural & Social Events as well as classes.

The Worcester Anglo Hellenic Club and the The Kefi Club, also from Worcester, ensure that those living in the south of Birmingham have a wide choice!

Students at the University of Birmingham have their own Hellenic Society [link not working on 4 Jun 2009; there is a Facebook group, but this also seems to be moribund].

The Three Counties Ancient History Society caters for those with a serious interest in the early history of the eastern Mediterranean, including Greece and Cyprus.
