» My University Home Page

I've officially retired from the School of Computer Science, University of Birmingham; I'm now an Honorary Senior Lecturer.

Some web pages which originated in my teaching but which have been found generally useful are on my university web site, linked via my University home page.

Personal

» Current Photos

I have been uploading photographs and personal/family stuff to Facebook.
However, I'm now trying a newish service called Dropbox as a way to store current photographs.

» Digital Photography

I'm still learning about digital photography and processing the resulting images. See the link above for some of the things I've learnt.

Family History

My great-grandfather was Charles Coxhead (dob 8 Oct 1848) of Reading, Berkshire, England. I used to have some web pages showing his descendants. I've had some technical problems with restricting the information shown publicly; until these are resolved, the pages have been removed.

About Me

My leisure interests include natural history and gardening (I'm currently Secretary of the Sutton Coldfield Natural History Society, President of the Birmingham Natural History Society and Vice-Chair of the Birmingham Group of the Alpine Garden Society). I'm an enthusiastic photographer, with a focus on flowers, particularly European wild orchids, and regularly give talks to local groups.

I am also currently the Chair of the Birmingham Greek Club, having spent rather too many years struggling with classes in Modern Greek (among other languages).

My wife Maureen and I have one daughter, Jane, who graduated in Civil Engineering from Queen Mary College, London, and now lives with her husband Bill Hunt and son Spencer in Ottawa, Canada, where she qualified as a Certified General Accountant. Hence travelling to Canada has become a regular activity.
